On another note I wanted to clear up some inaccurate information that is working it's way around St. Andrews. Right whales are not being sighted out of St. Andrews, yes, there was a very special sighting on the morning of August 5th of a North Atlantic right whale in Head Harbour Passage but that whale has made it's way out into the open Bay of Fundy. Right whales are not commonly seen whale watching out of St. Andrews, you usually have to go a minimum of 30 miles into the open Bay of Fundy in order to see rights (which is why we do our special right whale trip). Of course there are always some exceptions, last season we had a number of right whales much closer to St. Andrews during the last week in August and the first week of September but that was the first time that has been seen in 30 years. We keep in touch with the right whale research team from the New England Aquarium and their ONLY sighting of a right whale this season last week when one was sighted in the Grand Manan Channel (there have been some sightings on the NS side of the Bay of Fundy). Most likely this was the same individual we saw on August 5th and has been IDed as Eg# 3660, a male born in 2006.
