A right morning in August

Hello everyone, we had a very special trip this morning, our passengers had the privilege to a North Atlantic right whale, one of the rarest large whales in the world, with a world wide population estimate of 415. The whale was sighted in Head Harbour Passage, even as far up as Eastport, ME and Friar's Bay, Campobello Island. Right whales are not commonly seen in our area and I want to say again this was a very special sighting and not something we would expect to see often. Right whales are more commonly seen in the open Bay of Fundy, about 35 nm from St. Andrews from August-October. They come to the Bay of Fundy to feed, nurse their young and court. For more information on the North Atlantic right whale check out rightwhale.ca

Here are some photos from this morning.

Our other 2 trips today were great.....we had some serious Bay of Fundy fog to deal with but the fin whales have been so consistent and with some patience we got some fantatasic looks on both our 2pm and 5:30pm departures.

Thanks for checking in today,

Cheers,
Danielle
